Entering into direct competition with the King of large screen smartphones, the Galaxy Note 2, may not be a very smart thing to do. Nevertheless, LG wants to take on the challenge and with the Optimus G Pro, they have a device that will probably compete more with the Note 3.
To start off, the G Pro has a gorgeous, full HD, 5.5-inch IPS screen. The colours just pop and it offers high brightness, amazing contrast & near 180-degree viewing angles. It may not have the pressure sensitive stylus that the Note is known for, but the G Pro makes it easy to take notes with one button – with the Quick Memo feature, just tap the button the button on the left side and the phone instantly takes a screen shot and lets you start scribbling on it (the same button can also be configured to launch something else). It also has an IR emitter on top for use with the QuickRemote feature – it can be used to control almost any TV, set-top box, DVD player and so on.
LG’s Optimus user interface does offer a lot of nice extras - multi-window options, customisable lockscreens and a customisable notification panel. Camera quality is impressive, with nice colour and details – but falls short of something like the Galaxy S4 or iPhone 5.
Thanks to the powerful 1.7Ghz quad core SnapDragon processor, Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB RAM, you will never be wanting for power. Safe to say that all the benchmarks put it right up next to the most powerful Android smartphones around. All this power would be useless without battery life, so LG shoe-horned a massive 3,140 battery into the device - giving you a day and half of battery life. This is one device you should definitely consider if you want a powerful, large screen device and money is no object. Else, you can also save more than 5k by just going for the Note 2 which is still no slouch.
